Vehicle Tax Status¶
Before you start¶
This article delves into the vehicle tax statuses available across different modules within Dsposal's Paperwork. Tax statuses cannot be updated, modified, or changed.
Understanding Vehicle Tax Status¶
Vehicle Tax Status denotes the current taxation status of a vehicle for road use, as mandated by the UK's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). It signifies whether the vehicle has valid tax or is subject to Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN). In Dsposal's Paperwork, Vehicle Tax Status serves as an indicator of a vehicle's compliance with tax regulations and its eligibility for road use.

Tax statuses are "Read Only", meaning they cannot be changed. These can be used within Paperwork but they are maintained by Dsposal.
Vehicle Tax Status Values and What they Mean¶
Dsposal's Paperwork offers several Vehicle Tax Status options, each aligned with current UK legislation and conveying specific information about a vehicle's taxation status:
-
Untaxed: A vehicle marked as "Untaxed" indicates that it does not have valid taxation for road use, as required by the DVLA. This status may result from failure to renew tax or declaration of SORN. Vehicles with this status are not legally allowed to be driven on public roads until taxation issues are resolved, in compliance with UK law.
-
Taxed: This status indicates that the vehicle has valid taxation for road use, as per the requirements set by the DVLA. Vehicles with this status have complied with taxation regulations and are legally permitted to be driven on public roads.
-
SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification): Vehicles with this status have been declared off the road and are not subject to taxation as they are not used or kept on public roads. SORN status is necessary for vehicles that are not in use and stored off-road, as mandated by UK law.
-
Not Taxed for on Road Use: This status signifies that the vehicle is not taxed for road use and is therefore not legally permitted to be driven on public roads. Vehicles with this status may be subject to penalties if operated on public roads without valid taxation, in accordance with UK legislation.
