Sales¶
Welcome to the guide dedicated to the Sales area within Dsposal's Paperwork. In this article, we'll explore the functionality of Sales and its significance in creating price lists, quotes, and agreements.
Before you start¶
Before diving in, it's essential to understand the following key points:
- Sales is a fundamental area within the work module, integral to creating price lists, quotes, and agreements.
- Unlike Opportunities, the Sales area is mandatory and cannot be bypassed. It plays a crucial role in managing sales processes within Paperwork.
What is the Sales Area?¶
The Sales area in Dsposal's Paperwork is a pivotal space that allows you to create and manage Quotes, Price Lists, and Agreements, enabling you to provide pricing details, organise work, and track tasks for your clients effectively. It serves as the primary hub for initiating and formalising business engagements, whether stemming from opportunities or standalone transactions. From creating initial price estimates to finalising contractual agreements, Sales streamlines the entire sales lifecycle within Paperwork.
Mandatory Functionality
Unlike Opportunities, Sales is a mandatory component of Paperwork. Every organisation using Paperwork must utilise the Sales area to manage their sales processes effectively.
The flowchart below illustrates the sequential flow within the Sales area, depicting the progression from creating price lists and quotes to finalising agreements and job creation. Each step is interconnected, ensuring a smooth transition throughout the sales process.

Quotes¶
Quotes offer the most flexibility when providing pricing and organising work for your clients. They allow you to price up individual tasks, which can later be converted into single or multiple jobs. For instance, you can use Quotes for wait and load skip work, septic tank emptying, or collecting IBCs of oily rags. Once a Quote has been won, it can be converted into a Job or an Agreement, and multiple jobs or agreements can be created from the same Quote.
Price Lists¶
Price Lists are used to hold all pricing details for a client, along with relevant information like costs, disposal routes, sampling data, and contacts. Unlike Quotes, Price Lists cannot be directly converted into jobs; they must first be converted into Agreements. Price Lists are useful for managing various pricing options, such as different skip sizes linked with postcode areas or different liquid wastes based on contaminant concentrations.
Agreements¶
Agreements serve a specific purpose in Paperwork and must be created from a Quote or a Price List. They hold essential information about a specific task or job and can be used to manage and track different work packages. Once an Agreement has been won, it can be converted into a Job or multiple Jobs.
Force agreement use¶
To enhance tracking throughout Paperwork, you can enforce the creation of Agreements before jobs. In the Settings, under the System section, you'll find the option to ensure an Agreement is always made before creating a job. This will prevent the direct conversion of Quotes into jobs and provide better control and organisation within your waste management processes.
