Managing Jobs

Track waste collection jobs from creation through to completion and document generation

Jobs represent the actual work being done -- waste collections, deliveries, or services. Every job links back to a sale and generates the compliance documents needed for waste transfers.

What are jobs

Jobs are work packages created from sales. A single sale can generate multiple jobs -- for example, a price list for recurring collections will create a new job each time a collection takes place. Each job tracks the specific waste collected, the carrier transporting it, and the disposal destination where it ends up.

The jobs table

Browse, search, and filter jobs by status, customer, site, date range, or department. The table shows key details including status, scheduled date, and customer name. Use the filters to narrow down to the jobs you need -- for example, all jobs scheduled for this week, or all jobs for a specific customer.

Job details

Each job contains several key sections:

  • Waste lines -- the waste being collected, with EWC codes, descriptions, container types, and weights
  • Extras -- additional services or charges associated with this specific job
  • Carrier information -- who is transporting the waste, including their registration details
  • Disposal site -- where the waste is being taken for treatment or disposal
  • Documents -- the compliance paperwork generated for this job

Generating documents

Paperwork creates compliant waste documents automatically based on your job data:

  • Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs) -- required for non-hazardous waste transfers under Duty of Care regulations. Every transfer of non-hazardous waste in England and Wales must be accompanied by a WTN.
  • Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes (HWCNs) -- required for hazardous waste movements. These include additional detail about the nature and handling of the waste.
  • Labels -- for containers and skips, showing the waste description, EWC code, and any hazard information.
  • Advice Notes -- delivery and collection information for your operatives and customers.

Completing a job

Once the work is done, mark the job as complete. This records the actual waste weights and confirms the transfer details. Completed jobs can then be invoiced through the Finance module, ensuring a clean trail from the original sale through to payment.
