Opportunities let you record potential future work before committing to a sale. This is an optional feature -- you can skip straight to Sales if you prefer.
What are opportunities
Opportunities are a lightweight way to capture enquiries, leads, or potential deals. You can track who enquired, what waste they need managing, and the potential value of the work. They give you visibility into your pipeline without requiring the full detail of a sale.
The opportunities table
Browse and search your opportunities from the main Opportunities page. You can filter by status to focus on active leads, won deals, or lost opportunities. The table shows key details at a glance -- customer name, estimated value, expected start date, and current status.
Creating an opportunity
Navigate to Opportunities
In Paperwork, go to Work → Opportunities and click Add to start creating a new opportunity.
Select a customer
Choose an existing customer from the dropdown, or create a new one if this is a first-time enquiry.
Choose the contact and site
Select the relevant contact person and the site where the work would take place. This helps you keep track of who to follow up with and where the waste is located.
Add details about the potential work
Fill in the description, estimated value, and expected start date. The more detail you add now, the easier it will be to convert this opportunity into a sale later.
Save the opportunity
Click Save to add the opportunity to your pipeline. You can come back and edit it at any time.
Opportunity details
Once created, you can view and edit the opportunity at any time. The detail view lets you update the status, adjust the estimated value, and change the expected start date. You can also add attachments such as site photos or waste specifications, and record notes about conversations or site visits.
Converting to a sale
When an opportunity is won, you can convert it directly into a sale. This carries across the customer, site, and contact details so you do not need to re-enter them. From the opportunity detail view, click Convert to Sale to begin the formal work process.
